Introducing Jennifer Layton | Attorney
Jennifer A. Layton grew up on a small ranch in rural Oklahoma, where she learned the value of hard work and helping others in her community. After high school she attended Oklahoma State University where she enjoyed Cowboy football and intramural sports. She married her high school sweetheart and graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors in 1991. After college she felt called to help others so law school at the University of Tulsa College of Law was her next stop. During law school, she received the Dean’s scholarship, worked on Law Review, and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Criminal Procedure. She served as President of the Women’s Law Caucus and participated in moot court and legal aid assistance programs.
Jennifer has been an attorney for 30 years including eight years as the First Assistant District Attorney in Kay and Noble County. As a prosecutor, she had a passion for standing up for victims of violent crime and prosecuting cases involving sex crimes, drug crimes, violent offenses, and property crimes. She gained tremendous courtroom experience through countless trials and hearings. She continues to be a trial attorney with thirty years of litigation experience.
After serving as a prosecutor, Jennifer made the decision to start her own private practice. She has worked all over northern Oklahoma handling primarily family law cases, adoptions, guardianships, probates, estate planning, and criminal defense. After over two decades in northern Oklahoma, she has joined Bedlam Law and shifted her practice to central Oklahoma, where she primarily serves Canadian County, Oklahoma county, Kingfisher County, Logan County, and Grady County. Jennifer’s unique set of skills and experience make her an elite lawyer. She is the type of lawyer that can handle any kind of situation with confidence, grace, and expertise.
When she is not working, you can find Jennifer riding her horses on the beautiful trails of Oklahoma, tending to her flowers and bees, or spending time with her numerous pets and family members. Jennifer has been divorced and raised two amazing children while building a career and helping thousands of clients through difficult times. She also has family members who are disabled adults. She understands the complexities and pain of divorce and the blessings and difficulties of helping care for disabled or elderly adults. Jennifer is an attorney who will understand your needs and help you through a difficult time with empathy and strength, and she has the experience and skills to fiercely advocate for you when necessary.
