Paternity

Favorable and Compassionate Results When Paternity is in Dispute

It is often necessary to legally establish the paternity of a child before you can move forward with a case involving child custody or other matters. A paternity case can be brought by either the mother or the father of a child to legally confirm the father’s identity. Paternity cases may occur as a standalone issue or as part of a broader dispute, such as to establish visitation or child support.

Helping Mothers Demand Responsibility

For mothers, a paternity case will identify the father of a child so the Court can demand that he be responsible and fulfill his legal obligations. Whether you simply want the child support that is owed to the child, or you want to encourage the father to take a more active role in their lives, a paternity suit is often the first step. Paternity actions may also be necessary to ensure the child has a right to inherit their father’s property, for medical reasons relating to their genetic history, and more.

Fighting for Fathers’ Rights

For fathers, establishing paternity is essential for being able to have the right to have a relationship with his children. To have a legal say in how they are raised, and to establish basic rights like visitation. Establishing paternity is the first step in many child custody cases. Rights and privileges of the father in such cases are dependent upon legal paternity being established. When paternity becomes an issue, our team has experience in helping many people through the judicial process. You can count on Bedlam Law when not seeing your child is not an option.

Using All Legal Resources to Prove Paternity

There are a variety of options when it comes to providing paternity in Oklahoma. We can petition the courts to issue an order to have a DNA test, which will conclusively identify the father. We can also present paperwork such as the birth certificate, and other information, to the courts to legally establish paternity where both parents agree. Our goal is to establish paternity as quickly, and affordably, as possible.
