If Spring Break was a Wake-Up Call—Now Is the Time to Plan for Summer

March 18, 2026
Garrett L. Coats

For many families, Spring Break is a welcome pause from the routine of school and activities. But for co-parents navigating custody and/or visitation arrangements, it can sometimes highlight challenges in an existing parenting plan. Last-minute schedule changes, confusion about travel plans, or disagreements over time with the kids can quickly turn what should be a relaxing break into a stressful situation!

If Spring Break revealed that your current custody arrangement is not working as well as it should, you are not alone. The good news is that now is the perfect time to address it.

With summer approaching, schedules tend to become even more complex. Camps, vacations, family visits, and longer stretches of parenting time can make unclear visitation schedules or outdated custody orders even harder to manage. Taking a proactive approach now allows both parents time to discuss expectations and put a clear plan in place before the busy summer months arrive.

At Bedlam Law, we take a resolution-minded approach to family law. That means our goal is not endless back-and-forth or prolonged conflict. Instead, we focus on helping families reach practical agreements that work for everyone, especially the children involved. Whether through negotiation or mediation, we work to find solutions that bring clarity and stability moving forward. In the event a court Order is needed, we will gladly guide you through that process with experience and ease.

When parenting plans are clear and workable, it benefits everyone. Parents can plan ahead with confidence, and children can focus on enjoying their time with both families without stress or uncertainty.

If Spring Break showed you that changes may be needed, do not wait until summer is already here. Addressing it now can make all the difference in creating a smoother, more enjoyable season for your entire family.
